Five On Whatever Day It Is..

Happy Thursday everyone! Catie here, I just have not been in the blogging mood over the last couple weeks.

So, what’s been going on around here? Lena had a book signing, I finally managed to bake a perfect cheesecake in my Instant Pot and Paul moved to a first-shift position so he’s home every night to bother spend quality time with us!

It’s not Paul, I just always look like this.

Now let me tell you about making cheesecake in an Instant Pot:  It’s not as easy as it looks.

I made quite a few failures before finally cracking the cheesecake code. But now that I have the method down it will be all cheesecake all the time around here! Tonight I made a birthday cheesecake for my BFFs youngest. I dropped off a couple slices of the best cheesecake I ever made over the weekend and he requested a whole one for his birthday. Who could deny an almost 10 year old his birthday wish? Not me, especially when it means I get to make another cheesecake. It’s currently chilling in the fridge for the night, I made it early just in case it was another flop. Tomorrow morning I’ll take it out of the pan and see how it is. If needed I’ll make a second tomorrow.

And now: Five on…what day is it today?

Catie:

Do you have any nicknames? – Yes, it’s Catie.

If you lost all of your possessions but one, what would you want it to be? – This is a tough one.  I love my pen collection, computers, notebooks, my SUV. But I have to say I would want to keep my cell. It’s my lifeline to everything and everyone.
Pirates or ninjas? – What kind of choice is that? I guess ninjas? Historically they were great gardeners and peaceful unless given orders to murder. Or were those samurai? I can’t remember, either way pirates were generally sickly, angry, robbers. And children to boot, the average age was like 24 or something ridiculous like that. I’ll take my chances with the ninja.

What’s the last book you gave up on and stopped reading? – Deadly Summer, it was just too fluffy of a romance/mystery.
What would you do on a free afternoon in the middle of the week? – Hey, I’ve actually got a free mid-week afternoon free tomorrow! I plan on taking my son to lunch and then flopping for the afternoon.
Paul:

Do you have any nicknames? – Asshole, Jackass, are you really going to type those? I don’t know, Lena calls me Paulie, you (Catie) calls me Hon sometimes. Otherwise no.

If you lost all of your possessions but one, what would you want it to be? – I don’t know <heavy sigh> My phone? At least with my phone I can call people and talk to people and get information.  (Catie here, I was shocked at this response, I thought for sure he was going to say his Camero)
Pirates or ninjas? – Pirate! They seem like they would be easier to kill. (Catie again, he went dark with this one, real dark. I was thinking roommate or something.)
What’s the last book you gave up on and stopped reading? – Oh, an electrical book I was reading. I was reading it but knew most of it already so why bother reading the rest?
What would you do on a free afternoon in the middle of the week? – Maybe play a video game? I don’t get to do that much and it could be fun.

Lena:

Do you have any nicknames? – Cookie. Because I’m delicious. 😜

If you lost all of your possessions but one, what would you want it to be? – All of them?! Yikes. Um… Can I keep my home, at least? If nothing else, I can sell it and get some money to start over.
Pirates or ninjas? – depends. What are we doing with them? If they’re the romantic version, you know, the kind that bathe and brush their teeth, and come to the rescue of innocent maidens, then I’ll take pirates. (Hey! I said the “romantic” version. I didn’t say “realistic!”) Though ninjas are incredibly sexy fighters… can you imagine the muscles and stamina? Yum! 😋
What’s the last book you gave up on and stopped reading? – Outlander. Great idea and premise, but the pace is way to slow for me. I don’t care about the little details that others find so amazing. They bore me.
What would you do on a free afternoon in the middle of the week? – depends. Is Paul around? Because that means we’re doing house work, home improvements, repairs, shopping, etc. (After a good lay. 😜) If I’m solo, I’m writing. If others are around (Catie or the kids), then I’m crafting (making cards, bracelets, painting, etc) while something is on TV.
What do you guys do on your downtime?
Lena
