Hi there, Catie here.
It seems like all the energy and time I used to put into blog posting has been shifted to baking. I’m blaming the time of the year (cold, dark, rain, freezing rain, occasionally snowy) for my constant need for warmth and carbs. My most recent experiment is this:
Who knows what it is?? Any guesses?? None? Ok, I’ll tell you because I know you’re all dying to know.
It’s 2 day old homemade Sourdough Starter!! Look at how pretty and bubbly it is already! I fed her for the first time tonight after a 24 hour rest I’ll feed her again. With any luck It will be ready for me to make a loaf of truly homemade sourdough bread Sunday. Which I’m unreasonably excited about.
What else have we been up to? Lets see… We did all the fun fall Halloweenish things that we look forward to every year.
We picked pumpkins and I got the annual Pumpkin Patch Family Photo (which I sadly can’t share here because T is still in school.)
Then we went to the Jack O’Lantern Spectacular at Roger Williams Park Zoo. It was stunning as always but getting there was a bit of a hassle. They massively oversold the tickets (it’s the biggest fundraiser of the year for the zoo so I get it) but the result was tons of traffic and long lines. It was worth it though, the pictures do not do it justice. The best part was that the whole family came too!!
After seeing all the amazing pumpkins at the zoo the family gathered once again to carve up the pumpkins we picked out at the patch! This was also a ton of fun. T didn’t want to participate in the actual carving but she did hang out in the kitchen with us and joined in the family chit-chat.
Bina and Orion did an amazing job with their pumpkins and Paul did an amazing job roasting all the pumpkin seeds – so yummy!
Later that night we went to a haunted house. Orion dressed for the occasion and had a good time showing the small children in line that there was nothing to be afraid of.
And the next thing I knew it was BIRTHDAY TIME! Lena and Ri were born on the 28th and 29th respectively so there was lots of cake. And singing. Then it was Halloween so lots of candy but very few trick or treaters. Bummer. Stupid weather and busy road.
And next thing we knew it was November. Where has 2019 gone??
